Guru Arul Appalam – Brand Story
The story of Guru Arul Appalam is one of passion, tradition, and an unbroken legacy of taste.
In 1970, P. K. Chandran began his journey under the guidance of his elder brother P. K. Vasu, mastering the authentic art of appalam making — also known worldwide as papads or poppadums. With years of dedication and craftsmanship, he established Arul Appalam in 1985, a humble retail outlet that soon became a trusted name known for purity and quality.
By 1995, his vision reached beyond India — exporting premium handmade appalams to the UK, Australia, Canada, and other countries, sharing the authentic taste of Indian tradition across the globe.
Today, carrying forward that same legacy, P. K. Chandran founded Guru Arul Appalam, a brand that not only preserves authenticity but also embraces innovation offering a wide range of appalams (papads/poppadums) in different varieties and exciting flavours to suit every taste.
